Life in TX

Texas is hot and humid! According to people we have talked to it gets MUCH hotter and can be quite unbearable. We will probably be at the pool a lot this summer so we can cool off. Savannah is our little fish! She loves getting in the water. Tammy Lee prefers to just put her feet in and observe all the other people swimming.

Stephen has enjoyed working for a company in Houston called Corrizo Oil and Gas. He sent me the following pictures of his view and the building he works in. I drop him off at the metro each morning by 7:30 and it takes him to Houston. We pick him up at 6:45 - 7:00 pm. It is a long day but he is really enjoying it and loves learning. I just wish he didn't get home so late. : / I am starting to come to terms with it though. Long hours is the life of a lawyer.

Grogan's Mill

Finding an apartment was quite the challenge. I called tons of places in various cities near Houston but very few would lease for only two months. The only places I could find that were furnished was either 3,500 a month or a hotel which would be a small studio apartment with two beds. We finally found an apartment that would do a two month lease. It was not furnished but we were thrilled to have found somewhere to live.
We packed only the necessities in our trunk and we figured we would get by with what we had. The girls didn't seem to mind that we had no furniture to sit on.
Our sweet bishop in our new ward let us borrow these green chairs they were not using. It has been so nice to have a small sitting area.
Another ward member also let us borrow this glass top table for a couple months they had in their storage unit. Hooray!
It is a two bedroom apt so the girls share a room and  T-Lee sleeps in her pack and play.
Savannah will hopefully be on a futon soon!

Our kitchen is extra small with very little counter space but we make do!

On a good note the closer space is amazing! We have three huge walk in closets!
This is where Stephen and I sleep. Fancy huh!

Nothing to exciting… but I thought it would be fun to look back at some day. Gotta love our unfurnished apt. The complex also has two pools, a playground, and gym. We are taking full advantage of the little perks you get when living in an apartment.

24 hour drive….Check!

We made it to TEXAS! Have I mentioned that we will be in Houston and Portland this summer for Stephen's law internships? Well forgive me if I haven't…our lives have been so crazy lately especially the last couple weeks before we left.
It took about 24 hours to get here and we did the drive in three days. I was a little nervous about how the ride would go with the girls since that is a LOT of time in the car. They did AMAZING! Stephen and I were so relieved. I will give most of the credit to the dvd player we had…along with the variety of fruit snacks they consumed. We made a little adventure out of our drive and had so much fun swimming and spending time together once we arrived at our hotels. Savannah was a little confused and was wondering why we kept going to "new houses" each night.
We have been wanting a van for a while now. We just so happened to get one the night before we left which was a HUGE blessing. It was a lifesaver and we were able to pack so much more than we would have been able to in our Accord.
I am a mini van lover… they are life changing when you have kids!
We left early Wednesday morning and drove for 9 hours with a couple stops in between.
Our first stop was at KFC for lunch. Savannah was having love flashes and kept hugging Stephen. I think she was also thrilled to be out of the car!
 Lots of pretty scenery!
We stopped in Albuquerque our first night. It was around 9:30 pm once we got into our Hotel. The girls were so giggly and cute. They were SO excited to share a bed together.
I love when they get along. They are always making us laugh!
Day 2: Long naps are the best...

We stopped in Abilene Texas the 2nd night. The girls enjoyed yogurt and muffins for breakfast!

Still going strong on DAY 3 of driving. We stopped for lunch and by this time we were only 2 hours away from Houston. We were so ready to be out of the car but we are all still smiling which is a good sign.
Love my little T-Lee! Her sweet, snuggly, sensitive, lovable personality makes life better!

Phew… glad we are done driving for now. We still have our drive to Portland and back so I can't get too comfortable. We live in an apartment in Spring/The Woodlands Texas. Pictures to come of our unfurnished, bare, and small apartment. ;)
It is so beautiful in Texas. The trees remind me of GA! We are missing our family and friends in Utah but enjoying this little adventure we are on.

Easter Sunday

I am so grateful for the atonement and for the resurrection of our savior Jesus Christ. Because of the resurrection we will overcome death. It is so comforting to know that in a world of so much wickedness, sorrow, and sin He can bring us so much peace, love, and joy! I am so grateful for this knowledge and to know that because of Him I can be with my family forever!

Easter Shenanigans

We had a blast celebrating Easter this year.
We did a couple egg hunts, spent lots of time with family,
and felt so grateful that #becauseofHim we can be together as a
family for eternity!

Here are the girls at our ward Easter Egg hunt! Savannah went
from egg to egg as fast as she could!
Tammy Lee didn't skip a beat and put as many eggs as possible in her basket.
Once she realized there was candy inside she was thrilled!

The Easter Bunny even came to Nana and Papa's house and
they did another hunt on Sunday!

The clear eggs kept distracting Tammy Lee. She could see the candy inside
she was determined to eat it.
 I spy a pink egg!
We went on a fun walk up Hobble Creek Canyon. The weather was perfect!

 Stacey photobombing! ;)
 Love my cousin!

BIGGEST aunts I have ever seen in my life! WOW!

Hope everyone had a wonderful Easter!
